NEW 2008/2009 OFF-SEASON STRENGTH & POWER TRAINING PROGRAM



What most skaters fail to realize is the importance of building and maintaining muscular strength and power in the off-season.  It is the most effective way to prepare for a successful season in 2009!

The program runs for 6 months -  from December 1 until the end of May, and consists of 5 distinct and complimentary forms of training:

1)  Resistance/weight training
2)  Plyometric training
3)  Slideboard skating
4)  Balance and agility drills
5)  Core strength development

Athletes will go through 5 distinct, goal-oriented cycles, each with a specific purpose which aims to develop important attributes.  These cycles are:

1) Break in Cycle
2) Endurance Cycle
3) Muscle Growth Cycle
4) Strength Cycle, and finally
5) Power/Endurance Cycle. 
Clients will access their program through their own customized website.  The main calendar page will guide you and specify exactly what training to do on that particular day. Workouts will link to numerous other detailed pages with specific instructions, accompanied by either photo or video guidance.
